Gail B. Nayowith will lead Cities of Service as Interim Executive Director through the organization’s transition to an independent center at Johns Hopkins University in the Summer of 2020. She is a long-time board member of Cities of Service and a trusted advisor and implementation partner for mayors, state and local policymakers, and nonprofit sector leaders.

Gail’s commitment to service and community is a through-line in her work and personal life. She serves on the board of the Kenworthy-Swift Foundation and is a member of the New York City Board of Health where she chairs the Community Services Board. Gail started her career in New York City government and has led three nonprofit organizations: Citizens’ Committee for Children of New York, the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund, and SCO Family of Services. Gail opened 1digit, a project management and consulting practice, in 2015 to work with nonprofits, government, and philanthropy to solve complex problems and build solutions that increase performance, impact, and reach.
