Karen leads the development and implementation of communication strategies and oversees organizational messaging to broaden the impact of Cities of Service’s programs.
Karen is co-founder and partner at little m media, where she uses her operational and communications expertise to help organizations function better and make stronger connections with their audiences. She spent several years in leadership positions at Jumpstart, a national early education nonprofit. She has also worked for President Clinton, Vice President Gore, and NBC News. A proud AmeriCorps VISTA alumna, Karen is chairperson of a school-wide community service program, an elected member of a NYC Public School Leadership Team, and was a student teacher in Cambridge and Boston public high schools.
Karen’s writing has been published in Readers Digest and is included in The Best Life Stories: 150 Real-life Tales of Resilience, Joy, and Hope. She holds a master’s degree in education from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in English and French from the University of Connecticut. She lives in New York with her husband and children.
