Mayor Roberto Alves

Born to a Brazilian mother and Portuguese father, Mayor Roberto Alves has lived in Danbury since he was 5 when his family immigrated from Brazil. His parents worked multiple jobs tirelessly to make ends meet and taught him the importance of being active in and contributing to your community.

Mayor Alves was raised with a deep understanding of the value of hard work and giving back to our community. He was a member of the Danbury Police Explorers (now Danbury Police Cadets) and embraced their mission to positively impact our community through volunteerism and leadership. He is also a past Board Member of the Danbury Museum and Historical Society, a food and toy drive organizer, and he served on the City Council from 2019 – 2021. Before being elected as Danbury’s 32nd Mayor, Roberto spent 12 years at Cartus as a Technical Sales Engineer.

Mayor Alves is a Danbury Public Schools graduate, a devoted husband, and father of two young children, Catalina and Julius.
