NYC Service promotes volunteerism, engages New Yorkers in service, builds volunteer capacity, and mobilizes the power of volunteers and national service members to support the City’s greatest needs. NYC Service works with city agencies, more than 800 nonprofits, over 200 businesses and thousands of New Yorkers to address critical needs in the City, engage youth in service, and deepen civic engagement. Since 2009, NYC Service has strengthened the city and engaged residents though initiatives like Youth Leadership Councils, the NYC Youth Mentoring Initiative, as well as Love Your Block.

National Service programs at NYC Service – NYC Civic Corps, City Service Corps and NYC VISTA – bring volunteerism and service to thousands of New Yorkers each year. NYC Service was founded by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg in 2009 and served as the inspiration for Cities of Service. Mayor Bill de Blasio reaffirmed the city’s commitment to service by signing the Declaration of Service in 2014.

Through a Path of Engagement, organizations can access resources encompassing promotion, recognition, trainings/tools, coalition building, volunteer engagement and organization development.
