Lansing was a participant in the Cities of Service Love Your Block program. Through the program, participating cities support the efforts of residents to revitalize their neighborhoods. Cities of Service provided each city with $25,000 and two years of technical assistance and placed two full-time AmeriCorps VISTA members in each city hall to build capacity for resident engagement. Lansing has been a member of the Cities of Service coalition since 2015, when Mayor Virg Bernero signed the Declaration of Service. Mayor Andy Schor reaffirmed the city’s commitment to service by signing the Declaration in 2018.

Mayor Andy Schor
Andy Schor serves as the 52nd Mayor of Lansing, Michigan. Andy Schor served in the Michigan House of Representatives representing residents of the 68th House District, which included most of the City of Lansing and all of Lansing Township. Before coming to the House, Andy served as an Ingham County Commissioner for 10 years. In the past, Andy worked in the administration of Former Governor Jennifer Granholm. Andy also served as Assistant Director of State Affairs for the Michigan Municipal League for six years.
Director of Department of Neighborhoods and Citizen Engagement Andi Crawford
Andi Crawford recently returned to her hometown of Lansing, MI, and serves as the neighborhood resource coordinator for the city. In this role, she leads the Neighborhood Resource Team, supports the mayor in growing and enhancing strategic citizen volunteer initiatives, and delivers services to neighborhood leaders.

2018-2020
The City of Lansing has a rich tradition of neighborhood leadership and citizen-led service. Through the Love Your Block program, the city created a citywide service plan, developed a Neighborhood Resource Team, and introduced a Block by Block strategy to focus city resources in areas of high need in Lansing. Love Your Block helps to connect citizen leaders to the City of Lansing Block by Block strategy and provides citizens with the resources they need to revitalize and improve their own neighborhoods.
