Grantee City

In 2017, the City of San Leandro experienced record levels of rainfall, which caused a significant amount of damage, including flooding, fallen trees, and broken roadways. San Leandro is one of seven cities taking part in the Prepared Together program. Through this program, the city is engaging with its citizens to bolster disaster preparedness with initiatives like Prepared San Leandro and its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), which offers emergency preparedness training courses for citizen volunteers. San Leandro also participated in the Bay Area Impact Volunteering program.

San Leandro has been a member of the Cities of Service coalition since 2016, when Mayor Pauline Russo Cutter signed the Declaration of Service.

Pauline Russo Cutter was elected mayor of the City of San Leandro in 2014. She has been an active parent and devoted community leader since moving to San Leandro in 1977. For more than 30 years, Cutter has been involved in schools, social groups, sports organizations, and community projects to ensure San Leandro continues to be a great place to live, work, raise a family, and do business.
